Reading Rainbow

This is command central at The Closet. It's also my reading chair. I need some reading recommendations that will be readily available at my local library. I want fluff. Fluffy, funny, chick-lit(ish), light reading. I do not want to grow, learn or be inspired. I do not want to cry.

Give me the goods!

  1. I love the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. Too funny and not too sexy....makes me loney..lol.

Love the pics. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Sophie Kinsella is a fun author. She wrote Confessions of a Shopaholic and quite a few others. I want to read Undomestic Goddess next.

    Enjoy!

  3. Anything by Jennifer Weiner is light, funny reading. Have you read Jen Lancaster's books? They are hilarious!

Your book nook is so cozy - I love that chair.

  5. Well I was going to recommend the Evanovich Stephanie Plum series and all of Jen Lancaster's books but I see that's been done. So, Ill just second those. Technically it's not chick lit per se but I also love the whole No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith.

  7. My top recommendation would be the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. If you have not read them, I HIGHLY recommend them. They are pure delicious book candy.

    Here are my other recommendations:
Love Walked in and Belong to Me by Marisa De los Santos

I love the Louise Penny mysteries

I liked The story of Edgar Sawtelle (But not everyone does).

    Enjoy!

  11. Another book I m reading right now is "I'm Down" a memoir. HILARIOUS! About a girl who was raised by a white dad who thinks he's black. The author reads the audio version. She is cracking my shit up. Look it up on Amamzon.com.

Thanks for the comment today. DECLUTTER! So I did. Feeling better.

  12. wow, I love Wicked, but wouldn't call it light reading!

Um... right now I've just finished reading the Fat City Mysteries. They're about a plus size woman newscaster and her investigations and loves. Fun, light, and yet still a mystery. They're by Kathryn Lilley and you can read the first chapter on the website.

Another series I love is the Undead series by Mary Janice Davidson. it's about a somewhat ditzy shop-aholic who suddenly finds herself in the role of Vampire Queen. It's light, has all sorts of supernatural characters (not just vampires) and is wickedly funny. Davidson also writes other fun series, and another really good story of hers is Sleeping With The Fishes, which is, as you can guess, a mermaid story.

  13. I love your living room! Did you skin that cat?? lol

I'm getting some good books for myself from these comments. Right now I'm reading books about long distance bike rides. There are a lot of people that have done it and written books about their journeys. I'm dreaming about my journey by bike...

  14. I love anything by Anne Tyler. Not fluff, but good stories. I liked the Shopaholic books, too. I don't read a lot of light stuff, but I think I could use a little more fluff in my life.

  15. I read romance novels...I think ALL THE TIME...When I sit down to relax...I want to RELAX.
I like Lisa Kleypas. I like Tessa Dare. Eloisa james.
Julia Quinn is really funny. You can't get lighter or fluffier than that.
Hope you find something completely frivolous.

  16. whoops don't read light stuff. Right now i'm almost through with Edgar Sawtelle. I saw someone else recommend that. I like it. Can't wait to see how it ends. Just finished The Deep End of the Ocean ....hmm......can't remember who wrote it. Its pretty good but not light.

  17. i love the Louise Penny mysteries too (I see someone said that already) also the Hannah Swenson Mysteries by Joanne Fluke - dangerous if you're likely to be influenced by the cookie recipes she includes in her books). Anything by Nora Roberts is an absolute must if you're looking for light, romantic, sexy and usually suspenseful... And I'm re-reading all the Agatha Christies right now for the 77th time...

  18. Can't go wrong with the Sweet Potato Queens and anything by Jen Lancaster. Have you read David Sedaris?

  19. The Eve Dallas series by J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts-not quite fluffy, but great characters. Also, anything by Jeanne Ray, esp. Julie and Romeo, if the library has or can get them. (I just found your blog a couple of steps away from another new find, thought you might enjoy some more.)
